Wellness & Safety

What VitalSync can and cannot tell you, and how to use it safely.

Version 2026-10-07

Short version

VitalSync is a fitness and wellness coach, not a doctor. It cannot diagnose disease, cannot prescribe or recommend treatment, and cannot replace a qualified professional. Its numbers are estimates and its suggestions are informational.

What VitalSync is not

  • It is not a medical device and has not been certified or approved as one.
  • It does not measure heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, blood pressure or body composition. Any such value shown in the app was entered by you, and no sensor or device connection exists.
  • It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition.
  • It does not prescribe medication or medical treatment, and it does not provide clinical advice.
  • It does not replace your doctor, dietitian, physiotherapist or other qualified professional.
  • It does not monitor you in real time and cannot detect an emergency.

All numbers are estimates

  • Calorie and macronutrient values — including those produced from a food photo — are visual or database estimates, not laboratory measurements.
  • Calories burnt for activities are calculated from standard activity intensities and your body weight, so they are approximate.
  • Targets such as your daily calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, fiber and water goals are calculated from the information you enter using established estimation formulas. They are not a clinical prescription.
  • Training load and strain figures are simple transparent estimates based on the duration and intensity of what you log. They are not medical-grade measures of physiological stress.

AI recommendations

Briefings, coach answers, meal ideas, workout plans and weekly reviews are generated automatically from your logs. They can be incomplete, generic when your data is sparse, or simply wrong.

Treat them as suggestions to consider, not instructions to follow. If a recommendation conflicts with how you feel, or with advice from a qualified professional, follow the professional.

Stop and seek help when needed

  • Stop exercising immediately if you experience chest pain or pressure, severe breathlessness, dizziness, fainting, or sharp joint or muscle pain.
  • Seek urgent medical attention for any acute symptom rather than consulting the app.
  • If you feel pain during an exercise, stop, modify or substitute the movement, and have it assessed before continuing.
  • Contact a qualified professional before starting a new nutrition or training programme if you are pregnant, recovering from injury or surgery, managing a chronic condition, taking medication, or have a history of an eating disorder.

Eating and body-image safety

The app applies a safety floor so it never recommends extreme restriction, but you are responsible for how you use it.

If tracking calories begins to feel compulsive, if you find yourself skipping meals to hit a number, or if you are preoccupied with weight or body image, please step away and speak to a qualified professional. Support is available from eating-disorder organisations in most countries.

Device and sensor data

Steps, sleep, heart-rate and similar values shown in the app come from what you enter manually. Apple Health, Google Health Connect, Garmin, Fitbit and Strava are not connected, so the app does not receive sensor data from them, and it makes no claim to.

When to prefer a professional over the app

  • Any medical symptom, injury or diagnosis.
  • Medication, supplements or interactions.
  • Pregnancy, postpartum recovery, or eating-disorder history.
  • Clinical nutrition therapy, rehabilitation or return-to-sport decisions.
